About Us

Welcome to Raise the Barre, a performing arts studio located in Laguna Niguel, California.

How we began…

Our story begins in 2010 when Teresa Brubaker invited some of her friends in the homeschool community into her home to offer quality dance instruction in a fun and nurturing environment. Word spread about the classes and Raise the Barre grew enough to put on it’s first original ballet, Spring, in 2012, followed by our first musical production, Dear Edwina Jr. later that summer.

How we grew…

Teresa wanted to begin adding more classes, more teachers, and more shows, so she began looking for a place to do just that. When her sister Melanie came home from serving in China in the Peace Corps, the timing was perfect to begin this adventure together. They opened their doors on Forbes Rd. in January of 2013 and hit the ground running!

Who we are now…

We now offer classes in dance, voice, theater, and fine art. We have a choir, Improv workshops twice a month, and multiple musical theater productions a year. Our facility has sprung hardwood dance floors (a must for injury prevention), a boutique for dance essentials, and our very own black box theater. We are very proud of how we’ve grown and so thankful to our RTB family for their support.  We are where we are now because of  YOU!

At Raise the Barre, here is what we believe to be true:

*Performers of all ages and ability can share their gifts and shine brightly.

*Good technique is essential for classical line, injury prevention and a long career, but it can be taught in a fun environment.

*It’s a core value of ours to give back to the community and we are proud to be able to do so, singing and dancing in over a dozen performances around Orange County since we opened our doors.

*Anyone interested in pursuing a career in the arts needs to be encouraged and well-trained.  A singer who moves well gets cast before a singer who has never had any movement training.  The same is true of a dancer that can or cannot read sheet music.  We provide performers with the edge they need to succeed.

Thank you so much for visiting our website!  Now we’d like to invite you to come on by the studio and we’ll give you a tour.  We look forward to seeing you around the studio soon….
